The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre continues to serve as a supporting organisation for the HKIB Annual Banking Conference this year and encourages banking executives and related professionals to join the event.

 

The theme of this year's event is "Innovation and Transformation: A Brave New World of Banking".  It will focus on how digital transformation, innovation and the addition of virtual banks into Hong Kong's banking system have revolutionised the industry by opening the doors to better user experience, product innovation, cost and operational efficiency and delivery channels.  Details of the event as below:

Company daily operations involve the handling of a lot of documents and information, such as procurement contract and confidential information.  While some tasks may seem to be mundane or trivial, business operators should ensure working procedures are well followed to avoid their employees falling into corruption traps.

 

The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre (HKBEDC) has released the second issue of  "Smart Tips for SMEs" to remind business operators to guard against ethical risks in daily operations and safeguard the interests of the company.  Please click here to view the article.

 

HKBEDC has also launched the "SMEs and Start-ups Corner" , a one-stop platform for the SMEs and Start-ups to obtain useful ethical resources.  Trade associations of different industries are welcome to join our "SME Corruption Prevention Network"  and help to disseminate integrity messages to more SMEs.  There are now over 70 trade associations representing some 40,000 SMEs in the Network.  Please click here to join us now!

HKBEDC has been promoting business ethics in Hong Kong for 25 years. Here are some of the fruitful achievements we've made so far in partnership with the business community:

 

25 Years of Fruitful Achievements

1. The first public-private-partnership organisation promoting business ethics in Hong Kong; 2. Representatives from 10 major chambers of commerce in Hong Kong steer the work of HKBEDC; 3. Over 70 trade and professional bodies have recognised HKBEDC’s ethics training as their continuing professional development course; 4. Produced about 2,000 education resources and materials; 5. Promoted ethical governance to over 2,500 companies listed in Hong Kong; 6. More than 10,000 business organisations have used corruption prevention service; 7. Provided over 35,000 hours of face-to-face anti-corruption and ethics training; 8. Through corruption prevention networks, promoted business ethics to over 40,000 SMEs and starts-ups; 9. More than 1 million business practitioners or professionals have attended anti-corruption and integrity training; 10. HKBEDC’s website attracted over 48 million hits.

ACRU 2020, an annual signature event of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), will be held on 5 June 2020 (Friday).  Representatives from regulatory bodies and expert practitioners will provide updates on enforcement developments and discuss on regulatory related matters. Executive Director of the Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre will also share the insights on anti-corruption and ethical governance in the event.  

 

ACRU 2020 provides a compelling forum on governance related issues for governance professionals, company secretaries, directors, and senior management.  The event will be conducted online this year. Six ECPD points will be granted to eligible participants who attended all sessions of the event.

The Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre (HKBEDC) strives to promote business ethics to various sectors in collaboration with the stakeholders. Serving as a supporting organisation of the IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards 2019 (the Awards), HKBEDC encourages corporates and individuals in the FinTech community to participate in the Awards.

 

The Awards, which aims to encourage corporate and professional development and facilitate the sustainable is organised by the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA).

 

Themed “Transforming FinTech Communities with Competence, Character and Care”, the Awards recognises achievements worldwide in FinTech innovation, education, R&D, and its applications through its 26 corporate and 4 individual award categories.
